The family organization is composed of the General Assembly. These are all the descendants of the Ayi/Onyema family.They meet to vote on issues concerning the family on a Quarterly bases. There are also branches (Chapters) in the different Nigerian states and foreign countries. Each branch of the Family Association is an Autonomous organization as it relates to their activities and finances. It has meetings that are held according to the schedule set by their individual Coordinator within the province/State that they reside.. Quarterly dues for the benefit of the larger family are collected during these meetings or as specified by the Coordinator.
The autonomous branches of the association remit a percentage of their Quarterly dues to the ancestral home via the Board of Directors.
The organization has a Chairman. who operates from Nigeria, and is supported by an Executive committee(Board of Directors) composed of members who live within and without Nigeria. The Chairman is always a Son of an Obeya Father.
Election to the position of Chairman and Board Member is held on a schedule determined by the Board of Directors.Usually once a year.
An Insurance/Risk Management program is available to those members that pay their financial dues on time. The Insurance/Risk Management program provides funds to cover unexpected Burial Expenses. and Accident Medical expenses.
There is also a Business Loan program made available to persons in the family with a proven track record of experience in a particular field or enterprise.
An Educational Scholarship is available for any young person who attains a specified score in their High School graduating exams. These funds are for tuition and board.
The family members are in the process of establishing an Agricultural Packaging & Processing plant in Okpoga, the ancestral capital. All family members can participate in this project by obtaining shares available only to family members for now.
